To vote you must have voting rights and be registered in the electoral register in a municipality.

Who has the right to vote?

You have the right to vote in the parliamentary election if you:

• are a Norwegian citizen, and
• will have reached the age of 18 by the end of 2025, and
• are, or have ever been, registered in the Population Register as resident in Norway.

Here you can find information about when and where you can vote. Remember to bring your ID.

Early voting

You can vote from the 1st of July until 8th August in any municipality if you are unable to vote during the regular advance voting period or on election day.

In Øygarden, early voting can be done at the library (innbyggjartorg) at Sartor Storsenter within normal opening hours (Mon-Wed, and Fri: 10.00 – 16.00, Thurs: 12.00-19.00).

Advance voting

You can vote in advance in any municipality from 11th August up until and including 5th September.  

In Øygarden, advance voting can be done at the three libraries (innbyggjartorg) at Sartor Storsenter (in “the library garden /bibliotekshagen” at 2nd floor), Sund senter, and Rong senter. It is also possible to vote in advance at health institutions and high schools at certain dates.

Voting from home

If you are ill or disabled, you can apply to vote from home. Apply to vote from home by calling 56 16 00 00.

You must apply by 4 September 2025, at 12:00. 

Voting on election day

The election day is 8 September. On election day you must vote in the municipality you were registered as a resident as of 30 June.

You can vote at anyof the 12 polling stations in Øygarden between 09:00 and 21:00.

Well in advance of the election day, more information about the polling stations will be published at valg.no.

Bring your ID when you vote

You must show identification when you go to vote. As a minimum, the identification must contain your name, date of birth and a photo. Examples of valid identification include a passport, driving licence or bank card with your photo.

When you arrive at a polling station you will be met by an election worker. Election workers can explain the voting process and can answer any questions you might have regarding voting.

Are you registered on the electoral roll?

The electoral register (manntall) is a list of everyone who has the right to vote in a municipality. To be able to vote, you must be included on the electoral roll of a municipality.

You are automatically entered into the electoral register of the municipality you are registered in the Population Register as resident in on 30 June in the year of the election.

If you move to another municipality after 30 June, you will still have the right to vote in the municipality you have moved out of even if you report your change of address.

The electoral register for the parliamentary election in Øygarden will be publicly available from mid-July. Then you can check if you are included in the electoral register and report any errors.

Do you wish to check if you are correctly registered on the electoral roll?

The electoral roll for Øygarden muncipality will be publicly available before the end of July, so that citizens can check their own information and submit an appeal if there are errors in the electoral roll. You can find the electoral roll at the town hall in Straume, and the libraries (innbyggartorg og bibliotek) at Sartor Storsenter, Rong Senter and Sund Senter.

Every Sami person registered in the Sami Parliament electoral register has the right to vote.
You can vote in any municipality in the country between 11 August and 5 September. Voting for the Sami parliamentary election takes place in the same polling stations as for the Norwegian parliamentary election.

Please note, in Øygarden you will not be able to vote in the Sami parliament election on the election day.
